Rob Thomas has 15 years communications experience ranging from advertising, community events management, social media outreach and science communication. Since 2008 he has been involved in community development and communication at the Department of Industry in Canberra. With a focus in online communications he has developed and implemented strategies to engage and grow audiences. He has extensive experience with the social media toolkit, creating communities of thousands and building one of the most successful government YouTube channels.

 

Currently Rob is Communications Manager for the Public Sector Innovation Network. A platform designed to share stories of program innovation in public services and encourage the culture of innovation in the public sector.

Chad Foulkes

Chad leads Healthy Together Geelong which is a jointly funded initiative of the State and Federal Government based at the City of Greater Geelong which is taking a systems approach to address obesity, smoking and harmful use of alcohol. Prior to this Chad worked for the World Health Organisation Collaborating Centre for Obesity Prevention based at Deakin University where he organised a regional technical consultation with the WHO. Also in this position Chad worked for CO-OPS (the collaboration for community-based obesity prevention initiatives) where he designed, delivered and provided professional advice and support nationally on community engagement, evaluation and community-based obesity prevention initiatives. Chad won an IAP2 award for a citizens’ jury he ran at Surf Coast Shire and was a member of the IAP2 worldwide judging panel and has chaired the Australasian IAP2 judging panel. In addition to this he has worked as a private consultant
